Born in the heart of Tamil Nadu, Label Agai is a testament to the enduring love for Kanjivaram silk that we’ve witnessed since our childhood. The memories of our moms and grandmothers gracefully draped in this timeless fabric inspired us to embark on a journey of preserving and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Indian crafts.
Founded in 2021 by Radhu Narayanan, Label Agai is a labor of love. Radhu, married into a family where the art of Kanjivaram silk was a cherished legacy, driven by the desire to showcase the exceptional works of her mother-in-law Mrs. Jayabarathi. This marked the birth of Label Agai – a home-grown label that goes beyond being just a brand. It’s a labor of love, a creative endeavor, and a tribute to the vibrant tapestry of Indian crafts.
Infusing an artistic touch into our narrative is Mrs. Gayathri, a prominent landscape architect and a valued companion of the founder. Serving as the creative force behind Label Agai, she and the founder craft a tale that intertwines art, friendship, and style. Together, they shape the essence of Label Agai’s unique journey
In our commitment to sustainability, we ventured into Eco printing during challenging times in 2021, presenting the first-ever Eco prints on Kanjivaram silk. Jayabarathi Ramakrishnan, our designer with over two decades of experience, leads the creative charge at Label Agai. Her passion for Indian crafts, cultivated through designing for her kids and friends, has not only shaped our unique collections but also propelled us to become the go-to brand for Eco-printed Kanjivarams.
At Label Agai, our dedication extends beyond the finished product. We actively engage with artisans at the ground level, personally visiting them to understand the nuances of the craft. Working hand-in-hand with these skilled craftsmen, we strive to revive traditional techniques, fostering a collaborative spirit that breathes life into each piece. This approach not only preserves heritage but also creates a sustainable ecosystem that values the hands behind the art.
From Shibori to Pen Kalamkari, Lambani and Kasuthi embroidery, Ajrakh prints to vintage Kanjivarams, every piece at Label Agai is a labor of love. Our Digitally Printed Kanjivarams bring cutting-edge technology to traditional artistry, offering a seamless blend of the old and the new.
